There are three main airports that can be used to reach San Sebastian:
-
Bilbao airport (BIO):
About 1 hour drive from San Sebastian. An international airport with connections to all major cities in Europe (including Amsterdam, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Rome). The most convenient one for non-European travellers in terms of connections and air fares. A direct shuttle bus running every hour connects the airport and San Sebastian for about 17 Euros, tickets on the bus. The bus time table is here [http://www.pesa.net/pesa/descargas/DO50B.pdf], also available at [http://www.pesa.net]. We recommend taking the bus, and then a taxi from the San Sebastian bus station to the hotel, which should be relatively inexpensive (10 Euros).
-
San Sebastian airport (EAS):
30 minute drive from San Sebastian. A small airport with domestic connections to Madrid and Barcelona. Iberia flies to this airport. Convenient when a connection through Madrid is possible. A taxi connecting the airport and the city should be around 30 Euros.
-
Biarritz (BIQ):
40 minutes drive from San Sebastian. Air France flies to this airport, and some low-cost airlines such as Ryanair also fly here. Convenient when flying from France or London. Unfortunately, public transportation is more limited ( see here, more details in www.pesa.net ).

Getting Around
Public Transport
San Sebastian has an excellent public bus network [http://www.dbus.eus/en/]. The lines 5 and 25 link the university and the city centre. Tickets can be purchased on board (Standard fare €1.65).
Car rental
The usual car rental companies (Avis, Hertz, Budget, Europcar, Sixt) are in the ground floor of the Airports.
